Artists: Curated by: Lucie Drdová & Martin Mazanec The collectors are the personification of a part of the art world, just as much as they are the general denomination to describe a passion, sometimes on a verge of obsession. Collecting relates to the systematic work of museums and galleries, as well as to an indulgence of art lovers and dealers, as well as to the artists themselves. The idea of the “Czecho-Slovak exhibition” of contemporary art in Vienna is unintentional and the national dispersion is not the core content of the exhibition. The simple sequence of monographic cycles uses the principles of series and sequences in the essential media of painting, drawing, sculptural objects, photography and video. Purposefully, an impression of almost a museum archive and of its presentation is created. The admitted schematism of the art work selection and its installation is enhanced by the design sleekness of some of them, by the actual exhibition space of the former bakery, as well as by the art works created in situ. The last mentioned works act as an irritating element disturbing the unified approach to individual media and exhibited art works. The sensed aspects of the collector’s series and picture sequences, their presentation and the issue of their potential ownership are the concealed stimuli for confrontation; not by the Czecho-Slovak art as such, but by the concrete works of selected artists.
Sammler "Der tschecho-slowakische Pavillion" Sammler sind die Personifizierung eines Teils der Kunstwelt. Gleichermaßen trifft diese Bezeichnung auf Personen zu, deren Leidenschaft damit beschrieben wird, die manchmal an Besessenheit grenzt. Unter Sammeln versteht man die systematische Tätigkeit von Museen und Galerien, aber auch die Begeisterung von Kunstliebhabern und Kunsthändlern, sowie auch von Künstlern. Der Gedanke einer "tschecho-slowakischen Ausstellung" der zeitgenössischen Kunst in Wen entstand durch Zufall, und die nationale Streuung ist nicht das Kernelement der Ausstellung. Die einfache Abfolge monografischer Zyklen nutzt die Grundsätze von Serien und Sequenzen bei den wesentlichen Medien Malerei, Grafik, Bildhauerei, Fotografie und Videotechnik. Der Eindruck, dass es beinahe ein Museumsarchiv und seine Präsentation ist, ist ganz beabsichtigt. Der eingestandene Schematismus bei der Auswahl der Kunstwerke, sowie ihrer Anbringung wird durch das glatte Design bei einigen der Werke, den Ausstellungsort (eine ehemalige Brotfabrik) und die vor Ort geschaffenen Kunstwerke noch verstärkt. Die zuletzt genannten Werke dienen als irritierendes Element – ein Störfaktor bei dem vereinheitlichten Herangehen an die einzelnen Medien und die ausgestellten Kunstwerke. Die bei den Serien und Bildsequenzen des Sammlers, ihrer Präsentation und der Frage ihres möglichen Besitzes wahrgenommenen Aspekte sind die verborgenen Anreize für eine Auseinandersetzung – nicht so sehr mit der tschecho-slowakischen Kunst an sich, sondern mit den konkreten Werken der ausgewählten Künstler.
